Country music star Little Jimmy Dickens, a fixture at the Grand Ole Opry for decades, died Friday of cardiac arrest after having a stroke on Christmas, the website for the famed music venue reported. Dickens joined the Opry in August and signed with Columbia in September. Roy Acuff heard Dickens for the first time in 1947, in Cincinnati, and brought him to the attention of both Grand Ole Opry officials and Art Satherley at Columbia Records.
